MEMPHIS, Tennessee (WREG) — An 87-year-old Memphis man showed he was really young at heart after retaking his position as the oldest person to paddle across the Mississippi River in a canoe.
Dale “Greybeard” Sanders held the Guinness World Record in 2015 at the age of 80. On September 8 this year, he did it again in just 87 days.
This isn’t the first time Sanders has broken records. He also holds records for the oldest person to hike the Appalachian Trail one-way, the oldest person to hike the Grand Canyon Ring-to-Ring, and the oldest person to hike the Florida and Pihoti Trails.
Filmmakers Zak Rivers, Wilderness Mindset and Barred Spiral Media have teamed up on Sanders’ 2,340-mile paddle-crossing documentary project titled “Greybeard: Men, Myths, Mississippi,” which will explore what he needs to do Keep breaking records.
