Accenture acquires insurtech consulting firm Blackcomb

Accenture acquires Blackcomb Consultants

Founded in 1989, Accenture is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, with more than 70 offices worldwide. The company lists 710,000 employees on LinkedIn. Accenture’s areas of expertise include management consulting, systems integration and technology, business process outsourcing, and application and infrastructure outsourcing.

Blackcomb was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in Warrenville, Illinois. The company lists 158 employees on LinkedIn. Blackcomb’s areas of expertise include IT Consulting, Guidewire, Digital Transformation, Core Systems Implementation, Guidewire Upgrades, Cloud Hosting, Managed Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Production Support, Guidewire Cloud, AWS Cloud, Guidewire Implementation and Guidewire Production Support.

This acquisition enhances Accenture’s ability to provide Guidewire solutions to global insurers to help them become “cloud-first” businesses. Guidewire’s end-to-end technology platform combines digital, core analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities across underwriting, billing, claims and customer relationship management functions to help property and casualty (P&C) insurers reimagine their operations in the cloud, the company said.

Blackcomb’s 158 employees will join Accenture’s Industrial and Functional Platforms group, where they will focus on the delivery of the Guidewire project, the companies said.

Accenture’s M&A activity

Accenture estimates that in the company’s 2022 fiscal year, which ends Aug. 31, 2022, its acquisition spending will be about $2.5 billion. As early as fiscal 2023, Accenture acquired Word Class Manufacturing (WCM) businesses in the aerospace and defense, automotive and consumer products sectors. Beacon Group, Fortune 500 growth strategy consulting firm, supply chain management consulting firm MacGregor Partners, climate change and sustainability consulting firm Carbon Intelligence, and Oracle supply chain management consulting firm Inspiage.
