After 40 years in business, Arnold’s County Kitchen is closing

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WTVF) — At Arnold’s Country Kitchen, every customer has their favorite order.

“So my absolute favorite is roast beef, mashed potatoes and two vegetables—you can’t have just one vegetable, you have to have both,” says customer Lisa Goe.

But no matter what your order is, the reasons customers come back are the same.

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been here,” Goe said. “They’re like family to me.”

This homey treat has been a Nashville staple since 1982.

But as the restaurant prepares to close, customers line up to grab one last bite from the famed meat-and-three restaurant on Saturday.

Boss Kahlil Arnold says it’s time to quit the business. “The time has come when you have to go back to your family.”

The property is up for sale, Arnold said.

“It’s a restaurant that’s owned by the community because it’s our customers who have supported us to keep doing that over the years, and they’ve in turn kept us going over the years,” Arnold said.

But those loyal customers will be happy to hear that Arnold’s isn’t gone forever. “We’re working on other things, and it’s not forever,” Arnold said. “I’d have another place, if not one – two places.”

Until then, customers will have to savor memories of the food at the iconic Nashville restaurant.
