At least 10 killed in mass shooting in California’s Monterey Park

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said Sunday that a group of people snatched a gun from an armed man at a dance studio in Alhambra, California, shortly after Saturday’s Monterey Park shooting, adding The two incidents may be related.

“We are working closely with the Alhambra Police Department. We believe there is an incident that may be related. We haven’t fully identified it, but it is definitely on our radar screens, a male suspect of Asian descent walked into the ballroom and he Walked in with a gun and some guys took it out of his hands,” the sheriff said.

Luna said the incident at the Alhambra happened after the Monterey Park attack and “within 20 to 30 minutes” of the mass shooting.

The sheriff’s department confiscated the gun seized from the Alhambra man. Asked if it could have been the weapon used in the Monterey Park attack, Luna said: “It’s definitely possible. We don’t know yet.”

The sheriff added that the gunman in the Alhambra incident fled in a white van, according to witnesses at the scene.

“The man took off. Now, some witnesses in the area are describing a white van. We don’t know if it’s connected at this time, though. That white van should be a van of interest at this point. Again, detectives are Look at multiple locations, multiple clues,” Luna said.
