Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen was emotional Thursday as he thanked the medical staff for their quick response to Dharma Hamlin’s collapse and “saving his life.”
Speaking at a news conference in Orchard Park, New York, Allen paused to calm himself as he recounted the experience.
“You’re losing sleep and you’re grieving for your brother,” he said. “Lots of shared grief.”
“But (getting) updates and positive updates, it takes away the pain and the tension that you’re feeling,” the quarterback said.
“That scene just replays in your head over and over again,” Allen said when asked to reflect on his thoughts during the medical response at the scene. “It’s hard to answer that question and describe how I felt, how my teammates felt in that moment.”
Allen praised head coach Sean McDermott for his “perfect” response in the locker room and for supporting his players in the days following Hamlin’s meltdown.
