Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant chain Chuy’s will open on Dec. 12. 6 In Longview at 208 E. Loop 281, across from Longview High School.
Brandon Hurdle, the local owner of the new restaurant, previously said Taylor’s Chuy’s had received many requests to open a location in Longview.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, from Sunday to Thursday 11am to 9pm or Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm.

Longview Mall has a new toy store just in time for the Christmas shopping season.
Since 2019, the owner of Quilt World has opened Toy World, a new venture near the main entrance of the mall.
David Seaman owns both stores, manager Mary Parham said.
Quilt World’s first Monday trade day in Canton began with a 10 x 10 foot tent and has grown to three “huge locations” there, as well as the Longview Mall and Pierre in Bossier, Louisiana Bossier Shopping Center. The quilt shop also sells sheets, purses, blankets and jewelry, and also sells toys.
Seaman opened the toy store out of necessity, she said. They don’t have room in the Longview store.
“It’s our only toy store. We have everything,” says Parham.
These include electronic toys and tea sets, Ty merchandise, hair bows, dolls, and lots of dinosaur merchandise.
“We love dinosaurs very much now because kids love dinosaurs,” Parham said.

Shealynn and Jonathan Smith’s Candy Kaleidoscope at Longview Mall offers snack makers and bakers more delicious chocolate in more colors, as well as cake drops, customizable chocolate sprinkles and more.
The store, located next to Buckle and opposite Journeys, will be open during normal mall hours, except on Sundays when it is closed. Shealynn says she has been working as a baker and pastry chef for five years, creating “edible art”. She created her own line to expand the colors and options of chocolate, sprinkles and other products used by bakers and treat makers.
“The community needs chocolate chips and fudge in different colors,” she said.
Everything is made from scratch and handmade, with custom sprinkles — teddy bears for baby showers, for example, which can be ordered in stores or online at www.candykaleidoscopebytcc.com/, she says.
“When they come to[the store]they see all 50 shades of chocolate. Cake drips and sprinkles also appear — pretty much everything we offer,” Shaelynn said.
“The store was created primarily as a supply store,” featuring her products. she says. “There are so many different things that are hard to find in the food world, especially in Longview.”
The store will also offer other tools and supplies such as cake boards, boxes and edible glitter.

Top Homestead General Store and Market celebrated its soft opening over Thanksgiving weekend.
“We’re trying to have an old-fashioned grocery store where we carry everything,” says Trent Durst, who opened the store just north of Satterwhite Log Homes at 9999 US 259 North, FM 1650, with his wife Leah.
The store, whose name is a play on the name of the family’s longtime business, Topp Office Supply, will relocate to the same location as the regular store in the coming weeks. Topp Office Supply has been in business since 1936.
“A few years ago, Leah and I started dreaming and praying for something new and different for our family,” Durst wrote in a Facebook post announcing the store’s opening. “We decided we wanted to start a new family business that would feel more like a home than a business. We wanted to create a welcoming place where people could come and sit and chat. God made our dream come true and it manifested in Top Homestead Groceries shops and markets.”
Durst said the store has “everything you need” — toys, cookware, farm and ranch supplies, and more. The family later also planned to raise cattle, chickens and other animals on site and create a vegetable garden so people could see where their food was coming from, Durst said. The store will eventually sell the meat and vegetables the family grows on site.
Regular hours of operation are still to be determined, but Durst said grocery stores will likely be open on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the holiday season.
