MEMPHIS, Tennessee (WMC) – A mourning community gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of the Memphis man who was killed in a car crash in Walnut Grove and Perkins last week.
In an emotional send-off on Sunday, a group of men united for the loss of their brother and longtime friend Brandon Alvin Jones, 41, also known as “C-Buck” And grief.
“Having to organize a candle vigil for someone who grew up with you for 30 years, met a lot, talked about football and was just a real friend felt bad, it was really a little bit different,” said one close friend and vigil organizer A- Diddy.
Brandon was tragically killed in a crash in Walnut Grove and Perkins about 8pm last Tuesday.
His vehicle reportedly hit a utility pole, MPD said. Brandon died at the scene along with his 36-year-old girlfriend Bridget Murray.
Hyde Park family, friends and neighbors wore red and white to represent C-Buck’s favorite team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while sharing how he will always be missed.
“My nephew, he’s in a better place now. Hopefully we can all get there one day and see him on the other side. We’ll definitely get there one day,” said Brandon’s uncle Mark Jones.
Brandon’s younger brother, Bradley Jones, said: “I’m so thankful that I see him as often as I have in the past few years because I’m bouncing around the world and it’s been tough.”
Brandon’s friend Courtney White added: “We’re not going to stop living for C-Bucks. No matter what happens, C-Bucks are with us all day, every day, all day. So we’ll always have them 24 /7 is with us 24/7.”
As Brandon Jones’ loved ones release their love and prayers, members of the Hyde Park community say it will continue to be strong as a family.
“We have to be together as a family and we can’t let anything work against us. We need to come together as a community, praying for each other, talking to each other and not letting anyone stop family bonds in our community,” one participant said. members of the vigil said.
Memphis police said the cause of the crash is under investigation, but police said they believe speeding was a factor.
