Hatchet House in Bemidji is well received by clients

A new business from Bemidji is breaking into the market and creating new experiences with customers of all ages — or should this be a new experience?

Hatchet House in Bemidji, the first of its kind to open in the city, honors the legacy of lumberjack Paul Bunyan with its main draw, the throwing of the axe.

Lumberjacks, buffalo plaids and outdoor activities are all Bemidji staples, coming together under one roof at Hatchet House. Besides the niche activities of throwing axe, people can also play table football or shuffleboard.

Although it looks easy to open, business has slowed due to the lure of outdoor summer events. But owner Melissa Olsen said people could hopefully be drawn to the drinks, food and events at her business as the weather cools.

Groups can keep the axe throwing station for one, two or three hours. More information can be found on Hatchet House’s website.
