Carter is a partner in Sidley’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice. He is one of the most experienced Supreme Court and appellate attorneys in the country. During his tenure at Sidley, Carter argued 80 cases in the Superior Court, more than any other lawyer in private practice. Prior to joining Sidley, Carter served as Assistant Solicitor General. In that capacity, he argued nine cases on behalf of the U.S. government before the Supreme Court. In total, he has conducted 89 oral arguments in court and more than 145 oral arguments in United States Court of Appeals.
Kwaku is co-head of the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice. His work includes traditional appellate litigation, administrative law disputes, contract disputes and pre-litigation counseling. Prior to joining Sidley, Kwaku served as a legal clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.
