Las Vegas to host women entrepreneurs at business awards ceremony

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas will host the top female executives at the Stevie Awards, which honor women entrepreneurs in the business world.

Nevada ranks among the top 10 women entrepreneurs, a new study finds.

Entrepreneurs are grappling with an unprecedented shift in how and where Americans work, live and spend.

Some states have become hotspots for businesses, such as Nevada, which ranks as the 9th best state for entrepreneurs, according to Harrington International Group.

The ranking was determined by analyzing taxes, employment, startup survival and consumer spending from 2020 to date.

PhD. Kaplan Mulholland is the founder of I-finance, where she led the company from start-up to over $2 billion in loan applications.

One of the most valuable lessons she learned was “think big and convince investors of your business plan!”

She also adds that defining a business model early and doing a market analysis to find out who your competitors are can help at the very beginning.

“Too many entrepreneurs make the mistake of thinking carefully,” she said.

She also added that to be an attractive borrower when applying for a loan, consider what the banker or lender thinks.

“If they meet with you and they want to lend you money, tell them at the meeting what they want from you and what reassures them about how to get a return on their investment,” she said.

This year, Mulholland is a finalist for the Women of the Year Award and will be celebrating the Stevie Awards for Women in Business in Las Vegas.
