Memphis, Tennessee — A man faces attempted murder charges after he became violent after an argument with his ex-wife.
On September 28, Billy James suddenly showed up at the home of his estranged ex-wife, sitting on the front porch. James’ ex-wife repeatedly asked James to leave the property, but he refused.
James reportedly chased his ex-wife into the home and began strangling her. Police said he tried to put pressure on her throat with both hands and said, “I’m going to kill you.”
James drew a pistol and pointed it at the woman’s head, but did not fire, police said. When James followed her with a hammer, the woman ran into the bathroom to call the police, MPD said.
The police report said James struck the woman in the back of the left shoulder before fleeing on foot.

In this case, Billy James was charged with attempted first-degree murder. In addition, James already faces aggravated stalking and two charges of breach of bail.
