Mud Island house fire investigated as arson

Memphis, Tennessee — An arson investigation is underway after a home on Mud Island caught fire Wednesday morning.

After midnight, the victim heard a loud bang while watching TV at their home in Island Place East, according to Memphis police. His brother went out to check it, but he saw nothing.

The victim said when he sat down, he heard another voice. When he looked out, he saw flames rising from the top of the house.

Just then, he called the police and went out of the house with his brother.

Police said no one was injured in the fire.

Fire investigators said what appeared to be thrown onto the second-floor balcony and declared a fire.
