Albemarle County, VA (WVIR) – North Fork Discovery Park in Albemarle County has received $3 million to continue its work.

Funding comes from a Business Ready Sites Program grant in partnership with the UVA Foundation. They invested that money in 31 acres of land to benefit the business.

“In the future, the area will house a major employer and create career ladder jobs for our community,” said JT Newberry of the Albemarle County Economic Development Office. “Businesses in our community are growing and they are looking for space to invest and grow, The challenge with this investment is the timeline associated with regulatory approvals and construction of the expansion.”

The money is expected to speed up the process of preparing land for growing businesses.

“We expect it to reduce the time to expand the business by 12 to 18 months,” Newberry said. “These funds will have a significant impact on our efforts to retain the businesses that thrive here.”
