After a slow start, France put in an overwhelming performance as they beat France 4-1.

Australia opened the scoring with a 9th-minute strike from Craig Goodwin, giving the underdogs a surprise 1-0 lead.

In the 26th minute, France responded. Adrien Rabiot found the back of the net with an equalizer. Five minutes later, Les Blues took the lead and Rabiot passed the ball to striker Olivier Giroud to give France a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, it was all France.

After coming close many times, French striker Mbappe finally scored in the 67th minute to give his team a 3-1 lead.

Just three minutes later, Giroud scored again to give France a 4-1 lead. The French striker scored twice in his debut for France after going goalless at the 2018 World Cup.

Giroud is now tied with Thierry Henry as the 51st goalscorer in French history.

France top Group D with three points after their win.

France’s next game is Denmark on Saturday. Australia will face Tunisia.
