Omaha Chingona Fest supports small businesses

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – The inaugural Midwest Chingona Fest at Stinson Park is supporting small businesses.

Chingona means strong, powerful woman.

More than 70 strong and capable women were out in Stinson Park on Saturday to promote their small businesses.

They sell unique clothing, jewelry, handbags, accessories, and more. There are also Latin themed food trucks.

It was done entirely by a team of female volunteers. They work together to give other small businesses exposure in the Omaha community.

“It helps raise awareness of my business in the community,” said host Julia Carrillo. “Because I’m not very famous here. Most of my supporters are from Texas and Cali. But now with this event, I’m more famous here. It helps me because As my profile here grows, I will be able to host more events in the future.”

There is still time for the event, with vendors and food trucks leaving Aksarben village by 9pm on Saturday.
