Police: Man trafficked drugs while working at Rostraver Township business

Provided by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office Investigators said the items were seized after Melvin T. Payne was arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs from a Rostraver Township business .

A Clairton man is being held in the Westmoreland County Jail after police said he was dealing drugs while working at a store in Rostraver Township.
Melvin T. Payne, 42, was jailed Thursday on $250,000 bond after police reported two drug purchases this month through a confidential informant.
He faces charges of drug use and illegal use of communications facilities.
On November 11, North Huntington police interviewed a confidential informant who purchased a suspected block of heroin from Payne. He worked at a Cricket Wireless store in Tri-County Plaza in November, according to court documents. Police said the confidential informant was offered $200 for the purchase.
