Toy Fusion in Sacramento attacked by thieves ahead of Small Business Saturday sale

He and his staff like to bring this kind of joy to customers, he says, with just a quick glance at a favorite old toy. They will go back to childhood. “A lot of what we have here is unique,” he said. But delivering joy was sidelined this week as Leuong had to focus on cleaning and restocking after his store was broken into. Leung said someone broke in and smashed windows to get inside Wednesday morning, seemingly targeting items they already had on their radar. “We had some items that were stolen that were worth $1,000 and couldn’t be replaced,” he said. “It was more disruptive because it seemed to be well planned and calculated. They came in. They took down all the cameras. They knew where everything was.” Now, he encourages other small business owners to set up two security systems , and pointing out an obvious one and a hidden one is helpful. Businesses buy, sell and trade toys and collectibles. Kip Randall is a regular. “It’s sad,” Randall said. “Your heart goes out to Andrew, how hard he worked to keep the store going. It’s such nostalgia for the older kids who came out to have fun,” said Randall, who also saw the store to other enthusiasts bring joy. “We have all these local stores, and people need this business. You want to shop locally in Sacramento and support our community,” Randall said. Toy Fusion is holding a Small Business Saturday Sale at 1574 Howe Avenue on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4 pm.

“A lot of what we have here is hard to come by, unique,” he said.

But this week, the delivery fun was sidelined as Leuong had to focus on cleaning and restocking after his store was broken into.

Liang said someone broke in Wednesday morning, smashed windows and entered the house, seemingly targeting items they already had on their radar.

“We had some $1,000 worth of items stolen, and they couldn’t be replaced,” he said. “It was more damaging because it seemed to be planned and calculated. They came in. They took down all the cameras. They knew where everything was.”

Now, he encourages other small business owners to set up two security systems, noting that it can be helpful to have an obvious system and a hidden system.

Randall said he, too, has seen the joy the store has brought to other enthusiasts.

“We have all these local stores, and people need this business. You want to be local in Sacramento and support our community,” Randall said.

Toy Fusion is hosting a Small Business Saturday Sale at 1574 Howe Avenue on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4 pm.
