Whoopi Goldberg apologizes after using racist comments on talk show.

Discussing Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential election on an episode of ABC’s The View, the TV host and actor referred to “people who still believe he was conned somehow.”

Believed to be derived from “Gypsy”, a term considered pejorative of the Roma due to its negative connotations.

In a video posted on Twitter, Goldberg said: “I should have said ‘cheated’ but I used another word and I’m really, really sorry”.

“You know, when you get to a certain age, you use things you knew or remembered saying as a kid, and that’s what I do today, and I shouldn’t be doing that.”

Goldberg last year Paused from The View After saying the Holocaust had nothing to do with race.

She apologized for comments that others described as “devastating” and “dangerous”.

Goldberg once said: “Let’s be honest – the Holocaust was not about race.

“It’s about the inhumanity of man to man — that’s what it’s about.”

When one of her co-hosts said the massacre was “about white supremacy,” Goldberg responded, “But it’s two white groups.

“You’re missing the point. Once you turn it into a game, it goes down this alley.

“Let’s talk about what it is – it’s the way people treat each other. It’s a problem.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white, because black, white, Jewish…everyone eats each other.”

Her words sparked a backlash, drawing criticism from Jewish groups and others.
